Indian markets saw a sharp decline on February 3, 2025. The Sensex plunged 750 points and Nifty 260 points to hit their respective day's lows as US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on key trading partners, sending global equity and currency markets into a tailspin. As the dollar strengthened, the Indian rupee slumped below the 87 mark for the first time ever. At the time of writing, however, both Sensex and Nifty had recovered half the day's losses.
